Amazon's Zoox Recalls All 105 Robotaxis Over One Smoke Failure
The unoccupied Zoox vehicle drove into an uncordoned fire scene on June 20, braked hard, then reversed under a remote operator's command.
- Zoox notified NHTSA on June 25 under its Automated Vehicle Exemption Program obligation.
- The Safety Committee approved the recall July 7; software update shipped July 15.
- Zoox called it the only such incident in its fleet; no injuries reported.
