Trump Endorses Late Senator's Sister For Full South Carolina Term
Darline Graham, sworn in July 14 after her brother's July 13 death, weighs a run as filing opens July 21 and voting falls August 11.
- Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her July 14, making her South Carolina's first female US senator.
- Trump posted 'Complete and Total Endorsement' and 'RUN, DARLINE, RUN!' on July 17.
- Reps. Russell Fry, Nancy Mace, Ralph Norman and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette are also weighing runs.
Why it matters: A Senate seat inherited by blood, endorsed before a single ballot is filed: succession by another name.
