Honda recalls 325,000 Odysseys after water corrodes the backup camera
NHTSA report 26V423 says water seeps into the rearview-camera assembly on 2018-2020 minivans, corroding the board so the image fails the moment the driver shifts into reverse.
- The defect covers 325,588 Honda Odyssey vans from the 2018 through 2020 model years.
- With no reverse image, the danger is a backover crash, the exact harm the camera exists to prevent.
- Honda filed the recall July 1; dealer notifications began July 2.
Why it mattersMandated to prevent backover crashes, the camera now creates the blind spot it was meant to remove.
