Texas Declares Disaster For 59 Counties As Rain Keeps Coming
Abbott activated the National Guard and put emergency operations on 24-hour Level II response as forecasters warn of more rain through the week.
- TDEM was ordered into round-the-clock operations under Level II escalated response, the second-highest tier.
- Eleven state agencies mobilized, from the Texas National Guard to the Texas Cyber Command.
- The National Weather Service forecasts more heavy rain across Southwest, Central and Southeast Texas this week.
Why it matters: A disaster declaration moves no water; it only decides which agencies control the money that follows the flood.
