US Strikes Hit Iran's Only Deepwater Port, Don't Destroy It

CENTCOM's July 13 release lists Chabahar among six coastal military sites hit, without claiming the port's destruction.

• Iranian officials say only the maritime traffic control tower and two piers were hit.
• The strikes reportedly predate CENTCOM's confirming statement by roughly four days.
• Chabahar, Iran's only deepwater port to the Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean, kept operating.

Why it matters: Wars are fought twice: once with missiles, and once with the words that describe what they hit.
