UK Closes 14 Buildings, Saves £43 Million, Opens New Campuses
London's government office count fell from 79 in 2017 to just 28 today, as ministers plan a new Manchester campus for 8,800 staff.
- £43.1 million saved in 2025/26, with £17.5 million from just four London office closures.
- Cardiff, Leeds and Leicester also lost government buildings alongside the four in London.
- Manchester Digital Campus approved for 8,800 staff; Darlington campus and Aberdeen HQ also underway.
Why it matters: A state that closes offices while building a campus for 8,800 workers has not shrunk, only moved.
