Microsoft Builds Age Verification Straight Into Windows 11 Itself

Windows Insiders can already call GetUserAgeRangeAsync and GetAgeVerificationStatusAsync, and Microsoft says every Windows 11 user gets the feature soon.

  • GetUserAgeRangeAsync sorts users into five buckets, from under 10 to 18 and up.
  • Administrators can set a default age or verification value via Group Policy or MDM.
  • The signal works only through a Microsoft account; local and third-party logins get nothing.

Why it matters: A verification status that any administrator can override by policy verifies nothing beyond the administrator's say-so.
