China Bought 20 Of The 23 Tonnes Central Banks Added In July

Central bank buying fell to 130 tonnes through July, down from 160 a year earlier, and Russia sold six tonnes instead of adding.
- Poland bought 8 tonnes in July, lifting 2026 purchases to 90 tonnes and holdings to 640.
- Russia, usually a buyer, sold 6 tonnes in July after offloading 50 tonnes this year.
- China's gold now totals 2,366 tonnes, the world's sixth largest reserve but just 8% of holdings.
Why it matters: Twenty of July's twenty-three tonnes came from one government, not from a market consensus.
