Dutch Central Bank Shifts 86 Tons Of Gold Out Of North America

Between March and August, De Nederlandsche Bank sold gold in New York, bought it back in London, and skipped the remelt.
- New York's share of Dutch gold fell from 31.3% to 18.5% this year.
- London's share rose from 18.1% to 32.1%, now the largest single vault location.
- Governor Olaf Sleijpen cited "increasing geopolitical unrest" as reason for the shift.
Why it matters: A country that pulls its gold out of America is hedging against America itself, whatever the press release says.
